Hey LITGers!

Maneesh here.

How are you enjoying our Risk Makes Life Remarkable Challenge? It’s so awesome to see everyone’s daily results. I hope you are all beginning to see how introducing even a small risk into your life can open up your world to greater things!

In the spirit of today’s challenge, which is to start a non-work conversation with a colleague, I wanted to share something we’ve done at MKG called MKG Mash-Up Dinners.

Last summer, we broke the entire company into one of 6 dinners, each hosted by a member of the Lead team (our Leadership staff). The concept of these dinners was for each employee to enjoy some time with other MKGers as well as a member of the leadership team that they might not work with all that often.

Here’s how it worked:

The Lead member picked the location and date but there were no specific guidelines for programming. They were just encouraged to make sure it felt low key, fun and allowed people to get to know each other better.

The dinners were very casual in nature. The locations ended up all being totally different in style, food, location in NYC, etc. And each had a super different feel in what people did.

Maybe you’d like to organize something similar at your company?

To get you started, here’s an excerpt of the exact email I wrote to my team to announce the initiative:

Dear ye beloved,

I hereby announce the creation of the All-MKG Mash-Up Dinners!

What’s an All-MKG Mash-Up Dinner you ask?!

Well, it’s a super duper dinner. Each of which will be organized by one member of the leadership team. The dinner groupings are listed on the attached.

You’ll hear from your “dinner leader” soon about a date for your dinner.

The concept for these dinners is to enjoy some time with other MKGers as well as member of the leadership team that you might not work with all that often. They will be super casual (perhaps even silly?) in nature. Nothing too intense/fancy…quite the opposite, in fact.

In terms of when & where, all of these dinners will be in NYC and take place during the weeks of August 19
and 26. MKG West will come out for these so that everyone can participate.

Stay tuned for details to come!  Enjoy the Mash-Up!

Definitely let me know in the comments below how your Mash-Up dinners go! If you have any questions for me, ask those too. And if you’re curious about what else we do at MKG to have a grey culture, check out my previous posts here and here.

It’s not too late to join in on the 10-day risk challenge!
